Blue Hill Vigil

We had a beautiful vigil in Blue Hill tonight. About 40 people with posters and a 30-foot green dragon (with students marching underneath) parading up and down the lawn. The high school steel band set up on the front steps of the town hall and surrounded themselves with orange ("keep out") tape, then proceeded not to play, symbolozing the loss of their teacher (a refuser). Many people spoke and eloquently. Two newspapers came and took photographs and did interviews.

A show of hands showed about 20 education personnel and 20 other citizens,
including a good number of students.

Yes, it rained most of the time and the slickers and umbrellas added
to the color. Cars drove by and honked. We had signs up along the
road. We were about 12 feet from the superintendent's office and
across the street from the high school office.

We have momentum and drive in Blue Hill, and a couple car loads will
head for Augusta tomorrow. My own experience is that the media seeks
the dissenters in a crowd. It's not weakness to bear witness, even if
there's only one person.

People are beginning to really get it and they want to keep on
talking.

p.s. the dragon's message was: make sure the dragons you are fighting
are real !
