George Stevens Academy
PETITION
We, the undersigned students of George Stevens Academy present this
petition in the interest of our valued teachers. We hope the state
will reconsider and repeal the new State Law requiring all faculty
and staff to be fingerprinted. We feel that this is an invasion of
their privacy and a violation of their rights. We don't feel this
will protect us in any way, only hurt the relationship between
students and teachers. The background checks that are currently being
done are sufficient and will protect us more so than fingerprinting
ever will. There are better ways to spend the 2.5 million dollar
surplus that would be used for the fingerprinting. We feel this a
violation of the constitution and hope the State Law will be repealed
for the sake of our community.
