Representative Stavros Mendros

Don,

Feel free to use my comments... I am
also working on a guest column regarding this issue
and I would be happy to share those comments with you
as well.

Stavros

Brad,

Thank you for the email. I too am completely opposed to
this most invasive law. I submitted a bill to repeal
this law during the second session. Unfortunately, any
legislation in the second session needs to be aproved
by Legislative Council. Being a Freshman Republican in
a majority Democrat House and Senate, the leadership
did not allow my bill in. I will try again, and I will
certainly attempt to repeal it next year when all
legislation is allowed.

I would be happy to help in any way I can to undue
this most unfair and insulting law.

AND

Brad,

I just reread your letter and was once again angered
at the indignity. I will be reintroducing my bill to
rescind the law. (It will go to the Education
committee and then they will work on it.) Perhaps it
will only grandfather those already in but that is a
start.

I would like to make a point in response to
those opposing the repeal. They claim that people call
from out of State and ask if we fingerprint and when
we say yes they hang up instead of asking for an
application.

These people are not criminals, they are people of
principle, Exactly the kind of people I would want
teaching my children.
