PENINSULA PEACE & JUSTICE
P.O. Box 1515, Blue Hill, Maine 04614
March 16, 2000
The undersigned members of Peninsula Peace & Justice believe that the
legislation requiring fingerprinting of Maine teachers and education
personnel is a clear violation of the fourth amendment to the U.S.
Constitution.
We believe that the enactment of this law has unnecessarily polarized
Maine communities with no likelihood of measurable effectiveness in
achieving its goals.
We urge repeal of the law and open public debate on alternative, more
reasonable approaches to protecting Maine children.
