"TO: Current and Recent Holders of Maine School Administrator Certification:
FROM: Nelson E. Walls, Executive Director, Maine Leadership Consortium
DATE: February 25, 2000
A shortage of qualified applicants for administrative positions in Maine
public schools has been developing for several years. It is now
approaching crisis proportions.
This letter is being sent to those of you who hold or have recently held
administrative certification. If you do not yet occupy a position for
which you hold credentials, we hope you will consider applying your
preparation and experience by being an active candidate for a school
administrative post. If you are now an administrator, you may be
interested in considering a relocation or role change...."
The letter goes on to announce the collaboration of the DOE and the Maine
Leadership Consortium in what amounts to an administrative employment
agency.
